Commencing September 2025
Designing Your Career is not a quick process.
As far as career counselling and career coaching go, this is not for everyone.
It does not suit people looking for a quick fix or to tick a box and have someone else match you to a career. There’s no form or assessment to complete. You’re already beyond that point. This is the next level. This is what you do to move beyond ordinary or what to do when the “boxes” no longer fit you.
This is for people who have moved beyond “basic” career matching and are considering their place and career within a larger world and its scope.
This four-session package is built on the principles from Designing Your Life, the New York Times best-selling book and methodology that Bill Burnett and Dave Evans developed, and is taught in a class of the same name at Stanford University. The five mindsets you are going to learn in order to design your career are curiosity, bias to action, reframing, awareness, and radical collaboration. A well-designed career is generative—it is constantly creative, productive, changing, evolving, and there is always the possibility of surprise.
This program emphasises a human-centred approach, encouraging experimentation, prototyping, and learning from experiences, rather than solely relying on planning.Â
This package includes:
- 4 individual structured sessions – 2 x 60-minute sessions, 2x 90 90-minute sessions (5 hours of in-person support)
- Support materials, including the Designing Your New Work Life book and PDF copies of all worksheets so you can reuse them multiple times as you change and grow.
- The Designing Your Life workbook (subject to availability – they are not always available in Australia. When not available, bound hard copies of the worksheets will be provided)
- Additional email support and a 20% discount on all future career support sessions for life.
Between each session, independent reflection tasks are likely to be required to move forward. I try to keep these to a minimum and do as much in-person, active work as possible; however, there is no avoiding some independent thinking and research.
